‘Happiness doesn’t come from other people, from places or things. It comes from within.'
I’ve been thinking…(oh dear!) about happiness. Not only my own personal journey but the mindset towards it of the people around me. I’ve learnt a very valuable lesson in the past year or so about happiness, about how it comes from within, how I must not depend on other people, material things or money to bring me happiness. You can find happiness in these but things don’t manifest happiness. True happiness comes within yourself, self love and internal satisfaction.
I’ve been very grateful that I do feel as though I’ve reached a point in my life that I can say I’m happy. I have a positive outlook on life. I suppose I’ve always had that within me but practicing it and sharing it with other people encourages me. It makes me happy to make people happy.
It is easy to chase happiness; to think that once you’ve achieved the next goal, traveled to that place, earned more money, you’ll be truly happy. Why can’t we be happy on that journey to the ‘next’ thing? The answer is we can, we need to see the value in the adventure, see the good on your current situation and embarrass the positives. Life is a journey, everyday is a new day and an opportunity to embrace the good. In these crazy ass times I understand it can be hard to live like this. I’ve had moments when I think I’m merely existing through this experience, an easy mind set to fall into. However, positivity is key.
Everyday, take a moment to yourself, ground your body and think about what you’re grateful for, appreciate it and remember how it makes you feel. When times get tough, remember that feeling.
‘You must make it a habit to look on the bright side on things and let go of the past; to stop living in the future and appreciate where you are and what you have right now; withdraw from comparisons, and love everything in this world without condition. Embrace what is. Be happy.’’ - Vex King
